Kinda Stinky

It recently occurred to us that we may not be bathing Azalea as often as we should. Nate kissed her neck the other day and told me that she smelled like an old dishrag. I had to concur. The problem is, bathing Azalea is a two person job because she's pretty wiggly. So I wait until Nate gets home from school, then we eat dinner, and then I'm not really sure what happens. Inevitably by the time we think of giving her a bath it is about 9:00 and we figure it is a little late to get her all riled up. End result? Stinky Zayley.

But don't worry Azalea, things are looking up. Your dad and I are getting faster at bathing you and you seem to be liking the water more all the time. Plus you're cute enough that even if you are stinky...people still seem to enjoy holding you. However, we'll try not to let you smell like a dishrag for too long in the future.

Thank Heaven for Grandmas

A couple of weeks ago Zayley decided to start playing a couple of games called: "Put Me Down and I Cry" and "I'm Never Sleeping." After just a couple of days of this, I was starting to lose it. Nate needed to go back to school sometime, and I was feeling a little desperate for help. Enter: Grandma Gail.

Gail flew in on Sunday afternoon (we called her on Saturday night!) and was able to stay for the entire week. Zayley had a wonderful time with Grandma Gail. Zayley started trying to smile, play with her voice, and track faces. She got all kinds of tummy time so she could practice holding her head up, and she even started getting really good at sleeping during the night. Gail also helped Nate and I get some sleep and made it so that Nate could go to school at a reasonable hour. I was finally able to get out of the house a little more and started doing some normal things...like grocery shopping.

Gail went home the day before Easter so we made sure that we colored some Easter eggs while she was here. We were all sad to see her go (I was personally terrified); however, since she has left we have discovered that we can in fact handle Zayley and that we are not terrible parents.

Thanks again Grandma Gail...we can't wait to see you again in a few weeks!

Going For A Walk

Now that we have daylight saving time behind us, it is light enough to go do something when Nate gets home from school. Today we decided to go for a walk around Crown Hill Lake. This walk accomplished several things: I was able to leave the house and keep from going crazy; we could walk Izzy and feel like slightly less neglectful owners; and, Zayley got to wear the ADORABLE winter suit Aunt Connie got her. Okay...that's enough words. I'll just post pictures of Azalea now because I know that's what you're all here to see.

European History

I happened upon this today and thought it was worth sharing. It's a good place to go if you wonder what happened in Europe in 2500 BC.
